How They Work

Indow Windows are window inserts made out of acrylic glazing and edged with a patented Compression Tube. The tubing compresses when pressed inside your window, holding the insert securely in place while sealing out cold drafts and hot air.

Indow Windows are like inside storm windows, but easier to use and non-damaging to your window frames. You can easily pop your Indow Windows out whenever you want to catch a fresh breeze.

Each Indow insert is laser-measured and custom made to fit your window precisely, sealing out cold drafts, hot air, and noise.

The benefit of a window insert is that it goes directly on top of the existing window seamlessly providing the noise and draft benefits you want, without the expense and change of style that comes with replacing your window, so you can keep the charm.

Indow window inserts give you energy-saving insulation equivalent to double-pane windows, and they're even better at insulating sound. Plus, you don't have to worry about any lead contamination that can occur when your old windows are ripped out of the walls.

Standard grade: offer a great balance of comfort, energy efficiency, and noise reduction at our entry level price.

Acoustic Grade: Want to block the noisy outside world? Acoustic Grade reduces noise coming through operable single pane windows by 18.9 dBA, according to the Green Building Research Lab. An 18.9 dBA reduction "feels," subjectively, like a 72 - 75% reduction in noise. Available in all types except Sleep Panels and Museum & Shade Grade.

Shade Grade: These window inserts provide all the heat blocking and energy saving performance of low-e replacement windows but at a much lower cost. Perfect for hot climates and solar heat relief.

Sleep Panels: Indow Sleep Panels create darkness, quiet, and comfort for night-shift workers, paleo lifestyle followers, and home theater enthusiasts. No other solution blocks 100% of light and more than 50% of noise.

Privacy Grade: These Indow Windows are made from translucent white acrylic that allows diffused light transmission while blocking out details and defined shadows. Great for bathrooms & bedrooms.

Energy Savings:
Indow window inserts provide excellent thermal insulation and ultimately save you money on your utility bills. Your Indow windows literally pay for themselves over time. A U.S. Department of Energy study found that installing Indow inserts led to a more than 20% reduction in heating, ventilating and air-conditioning use in a Seattle home. A separate study by Portland State University’s Green Building Research Laboratory found similar results. Comparing gas usage before and after installing Indow inserts in four Portland-area homes, the laboratory found heating-energy costs were reduced by an average of 19%.

Thermal Performance:
Indow window inserts have 94% of the insulation of standard double-pane windows. The surface of an acrylic Indow insert is much warmer than the surface of a pane of glass, so you’ll feel warmer even if the air temperature in both cases is the same.

Noise Reduction:
Acoustic Indow inserts dampen noise by 18.9 dBA (over 70% window noise reduction), when placed over operable single-pane windows. When placed over double-pane windows Acoustic Grade inserts reduce noise by 10 to 12 dBA, equivalent to a 50%+ reduction in noise.

*Note, overall noise reduction performance depends on how much noise is coming through walls, ceilings, floor, and doors.
The window noise reduction will be less when Indow inserts are placed over double-pane windows.
